PIRA 6C20.30 - Diffraction Around Objects: Pin Hole Diffraction
Photo Shows the Demonstration Apparatus Used by the University
of Texas at Austin
Set Up Instructions / Notes:
0>
- This demostration includes a geen laser, an optics rail and a slide wih a .2 mm circular pin hole aperture mounted to an X/Y stage.
- Important Note: The 200 micron aperture is rather small. Hence, projected pattern is very dim.
- Note: The auditorium must be completely dark.
- Even the A/V projection system will need to be blanked by pressing the "mute icon" on the control panel.
- The Airy disk and rings can be best seen by aiming the laser cart towards the prep room doors.
- The photo below was taken using a 2 second exposure with a DSLR. So, the Airy rings appear much brighter than to the naked eye.
