OPTICAL ILLUSIONS OF THE WEEK!
If you're my age you will recall “Op Art,” an artefact of the
Swinging 1960s. Artists like Bridget Riley often worked in black and white, while others
like Victor Vasarely usually worked in color. The basic Op Art painting incorporated optical illusions
of various kinds, including illusory depth and illusory motion; a number of the illusions
produced in recent years by Prof. Akiyoshi Kitaoka of Japan are very pure Op Art.
Here's a random selection of Op Art paintings, some famous, some hitherto unknown, and none attributed to
their creators. It's an exercise for Google Image Search if you want to identify the
specific works shown in this gallery.
