But the only "physical" evidence consists of tufts of hair from animals that have nothing to do with apes--- bears, usually--- and footprints made by pressing boards whittled into shape with a pocket knife into soft ground... a uniform flat print which could not be made by a fully bipedal animal walking normally.  There are also some almost comical recordings of "Bigfoot growls and articulations."  Almost entirely, there is just eyewitness testimony of a sighting which could be of just about anything whatsoever... but it is exciting to say it's Bigfoot!

Bigfoot sightings are also well-known and popular in Australia, where the apemen are known as Yowies.  Placental mammals never made it to that isolated continent, however.
