Adrian Cuicivara, Si-SiO2 interface; Oxidation of Si

  1. Performed calculations for Vanadium surface using “Ab Initio calculations” method implemented in PWSCF application. I’ve used different approximations for exchange-correlation potential (LDA, GGA, MetaGGA). The goal of the calculation was to try to understand the discrepancy between the experimental and theoretical relaxation of the vanadium surface.

  2. Implemented the spin-dependent pseudopotential generation in PW application (plane waves pseudopotential technique) using Fortran90.

  3. Reconstruction of Silicon (110) surface and SiO2-Si interface, calculations which have a big importance in optimizing FinFet technology (current research). The software I am using is Fireball (molecular dynamic technique).

  4. Studying GeTe which is a thin gap semiconductor using Wien2K software (all electron calculation) (current research)

Manish Niranjan, Silicide Alloys

  1. "Silicide Alloys: theoretical design of low barrier contact for ultra-scaled CMOS"

Objective: To guide the experimental development of new silicide alloys for source/drain contacts in ultra-scaled CMOS and infrared detectors by providing fundamental understanding of the structure property relations between the crystal structure, chemical composition and atomic structure of the silicide/Si interface on one hand and the Schottky barrier to Si on the other hand.

  2. Theoretical investigation of diluted magnetic semiconductors using ab-initio techniques.
