Picture shows demonstration an older apparatus used at the University
of Texas at Austin back in 1996.
Instructions / Notes:
- The current configuration uses two slightly unmatched tuning forks rather than two separate function generators driving loud speakers.
- Student observe the resulting wave form via the classroom video projection system.
- A microphone is placed midway between the tuning forks and its signal is inputted to a oscilloscope.
- The oscilloscope's video output is connected to a HDMI connection below the A/V console.
- Be sure to strike each tuning fork with an equal amount of force, so that the amplitude emitted from the resonance box of each tuning fork is about the same.
