PIRA 5D20.10 - Resistivity and Temperature: Wire Coil Resistor
in Liquid Nitrogen.
Instructions / Notes:
- Connect the copper wire coil in series with a rechargeable battery.
- Measure the current flowing through the coil.
- Submerge the coil in liquid nitrogen.
- Measure the current flowing through the submerged coil.
Concept Conveyed:
- The decrease in temperature due to the liquid nitrogen will decrease the resistance of the coil. The current should increase when the coil is submerged.
